Welcome to Taste of the Lakes Ltd. We are a family firm - artisan smokehouse and makers of fine quality sausages and dry cured bacons. We specialise in the Old Smokehouse smoked meats and fish, with raw materials from local sources, and producing traditional Cumberland sausage. We supply a wide variety of customers, shops, wholesalers, caterers, restaurants, pubs, and export markets. We take great pride in what we produce and we have over 40 medals that we have won over the years at the Great Taste Awards. The Old Smokehouse has been producing artisan smoked foods for three decades.
The Artisan kiln plays a very significant part in our product character. Since the Great Taste Awards began they have given many gold medals to Old Smokehouse products including to our smoked duck, smoked chicken and - most recently - smoked haddock.
Our fish, meat and cheese are oak-smoked by hand with no additives.
Chicken – Hot Smoked Breast: 
Our Smoked Chicken Breast is ready to eat – hot smoking cooks and flavours the chicken – in a sandwich or with a salad – it adds a whole new flavour dimension to a chicken salad. Our chicken breasts are moist and succulent with a fantastic smokey flavour from the Old Smokehouse kiln.
A Great Taste Award Gold Medal winner, hot smoked chicken can be eaten hot – perhaps in a casserole or fricasse.
Penrith Pepperpot Sausage: Produced in-house from Cumbrian pork and containing our secret blend of herbs and spices then “Old Smokehouse” smoked, the sausage created has a flavour that has been described as ‘wonderful’!
A Great Taste Award Gold Medal winner – this hot smoked sausage can be eaten cold – just with a pint of beer or combined in your favourite sandwich. Slice it and add to pizzas or casseroles to bring the distinct smoky-spicy flavour to your dish.
Traditional Cumberland Sausage
Traditional Cumberland Sausage has now been awarded protected origin status.This is a great boost to a very local product, now traditional Cumberland Sausage has to be made in Cumbria - thick, spicy high meat content sausage rings. Our Cumberland Sausage is made in Cumberland from Cumbrian pork.

SALSA is a nationally recognised food safety certification scheme specifically developed for small and micro producers The scheme allows businesses to demonstrate that they operate using a robust and effective food safety standard - a scheme with wide acceptance by retailers and food service providers.
